Governor Perry Shirks Responsibility on Anti-TSA Groping Bills


Texans have clearly voiced their opinions regarding issues of importance and desire to be protected from oversteps by run-away government agencies such as the TSA – they have inundated the office of the Governor with calls to protect their Fourth Amendment rights to be secure in the person unless there is probable cause. Currently, the author of the House bill, Representative David Simpson has garnered 112 co-authors to HB41 restricting the TSA from being able to touch citizens in their private parts – an act which in any other forum would constitute sexual assault. And, Senator Dan Patrick, the author of the Senate version (SB29) wrote Governor Perry on Wednesday, June 15 to inform him that he had majority support – sufficient to pass this bill during the special session.
