by a Son of Liberty
Today, most of the world from New York to Nairobi and Jerusalem to Christchurch will pause in preparation for the commemoration of one of the world’s most significant events: the birth of Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, the Savior of the world.
There will be celebrations and feasting, parades and pageants. Families will come together. Gifts will be given. Prayers uttered. Hymns sung.
And for good reason.
The birth of Christ was the heralding in of the end of unmitigated tyranny—of a world where the single most powerful force known to most sons of Adam was the State. The only law most of the world knew was that of the jungle or of the strongest bully in the neighborhood.
But it was Jesus Christ, a poor carpenter, who stood before the compromised spiritual and civil leaders of His day and before the imperial tyranny of the Roman Empire and uttered the most revolutionary statements in the history of politics. He said first, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s.” And then before the face of the Roman Governor representing Caesar, He said, “You would have no authority if it had not been given to you from above.”
These two statements shook the foundations of Statism—and the earthquake sent aftershocks far and wide. The very idea of Caesar not having certain things under his authority was treason. The confession of faith for the Roman Empire was “Caesar is Lord.” But this Jesus said that there were certain things not under Caesar’s authority and that Caesar’s own authority came from “above.”
Jesus Christ came and proclaimed Himself King. But He did things no other kings had done. He washed the feet of His subjects; He supped with prostitutes and politicians. He called all to repentance and service to His Father in Heaven—their Liberator. And He said that those who desire to be the greatest must be the servant of all.

Tomorrow, the day that the world celebrates as Christmas Eve, has been uniquely positioned to become “Tyranny Eve”. Liberal lawmakers have scheduled two monumental votes on bills which, if carried into law, will propel us deeper toward statist socialism than many of us ever believed possible. And this is just the beginning.
While most citizens across America will be enjoying cozy pajamas and crackling fires, we call upon “Sons of Liberty” to recognize this crucial moment –to eschew comfort and STAND! Not just against socialistic health care and unlimited government spending, but for our children and their freedom.
Several months ago, town hall meetings across America pulsed with the outrage of concerned citizens who said “enough is enough” with the government’s attempts to encroach on our freedom by taking greater control over the private sector. Now, on the eve of an historic vote on health care legislation in the Senate, that spirit has waned as the passage of this behemoth bill that will deprive us of liberties and bankrupt our children’s future is considered inevitable.
Now is not the time for apathy. Now is the time to stand.
Join concerned citizens across America tomorrow morning as we gather on the footsteps of the capitol building in Washington D.C. to stand for freedom and against tyranny.
Why are we gathering while others have gone “home for the holidays”? Because we believe that American patriots should not be lulled into easy peace while such a galactic blow to American Liberty is being dealt. The festive cheer of the season cannot mask the ugly reality that is being advanced on “Tyranny Eve” by legislators drunk, not with spiked eggnog, but with the sense of unchecked power that is run amok.
We are not gathering merely to protest these bills. We are gathering to oppose the idea that it is the governments place to solve our problems. We say with the founding father of America that it is not. The solution is in our homes, our businesses, and our churches across America. We affirm our constitution’s bill of rights which states “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
Join us as we peacefully stand together to defy tyranny and proclaim our allegiance to the God who our constitutional republic was founded upon.
Stand with us as we proclaim to lawmakers in Washington DC that statist power grabs are not the solution. They are the problem.Who: We are a growing group of individuals that cannot remain silent. We have no association or affiliation other than a commitment to constitutional liberty.
When: Christmas Eve at 6:00am
Where: On the Front Steps of the US Capital (sign up for details and updates)
How: Bring your family, print signs, dress warmly, and stand for constitutional liberty.

Prayer, we found, is immensely important to those who are devoid of wisdom. If we come to God with humility, asking for wisdom, he has promised to give it.[i] It can be easy, in our human way of thinking, to imagine that God somehow doesn’t see our weakness and folly and if we were to admit these to him, he would not want to help us. But the God who created us knows our thoughts; he gives grace to the humble and resists the proud. Matthew Henry wisely stated,
“We should not pray so much for the removal of an affliction as for wisdom to make a right use of it. And who is there that does not want wisdom under any great trials or exercises to guide him in his judging of things, in the government of his own spirit and temper, and in the management of his affairs? To be wise in trying times is a special gift of God, and to him we must seek for it.”.[ii]There is something wonderful that happens when we develop the habit of praying prayers of both supplication and thanksgiving. We will begin to see, with a grateful heart, the many Providences of God, past and present, in our lives and trust in him will grow.
Once we had asked God for wisdom, we had to search it out where he has placed it: in his Word. All of the wisdom that we need to govern our lives is there and we must be diligent in using the means provided for us to obtain it. In order to obey God, one must be highly educated in his Word; it was there that we found the truths that our lives had been so devoid of. Over time, as our hearts were filled with God’s wisdom, we began to see the fruit of growing maturity and faith and were no longer swayed by every little trial that came our way. We were able to take on greater, more difficult responsibilities and experience the blessings and joy that came with them. We found that there are many ways to fill one’s mind with the Word of God- reading, listening, posting passages around our home, or even copying it out, to name a few. In a time when the Scriptures are readily available, it can be easy to take them for granted; there have been many, though, who considered the Word so dear as to give their lives for it.
Another of the missing ingredients in our lives was edifying relationships. Our counselors came in many forms, from various types of media to real life relationships. In the beginning, because we didn’t have a lot of real life relationships it became very important for us to always be reading or listening to things, especially those that were beyond our current level of understanding. What this helped us to realize was that becoming educated was our own responsibility. In time, however, the Lord did send friends and mentors who encouraged, challenged, and stretched us in ways which we didn’t know it possible to stretch. This kind of relationship is not always easy, because real people can see your flaws, point them out and challenge you to overcome. It can be tempting to seek out people who make us feel good about ourselves and never challenge our sin and ignorance, but a true friend, who loves our soul, will not leave us alone in sin. Instead they will consistently direct us to the truth of scripture. As Proverbs 27:6 states,“Faithful are the wounds of a friend..”. We, however, must be willing to humbly accept these “wounds”. It takes time to build this kind of friendship, but in the long run it is the most fruitful and grows increasingly precious over time.
Looking back, we see the faithfulness of God at every step and we can be encouraged that we will continue to see it with every future step. We are content to know that this process of sanctification encompasses past, present, and future. The work of grace is but begun in this life, there is always more to be done here, and the Lord will be faithful to finish the work he has started.[iii]

The Pratical Works of Richard Baxter Vol. 1 A Christian Directory.
Many of today's counselors neglect the spiritual side of man's dilemma, thereby neglecting the true cause of his ills. The Puritans realized, without being simplistic, that to ever deal definitely with life's problems, whether it be depression, marital strife, self-doubt, anxiety, or any other ills one might care to name, the individual must first deal with his inner self.
There are many Puritan classics on this subject. Thomas Brooks' Precious Remedies Against Satan's Devices, Thomas Goodman's A Child of Light Walking in Darkness, William Bridge's A Lifting Up for the downcast, and many other similar works give evidence that the Puritans were no "ignorant fundamentalists" merely overlooking the mental, emotional, or problematic side of man. Rather, they were masters at applying Biblical answers and principles to problems that can only be solved by spiritual means.
No Puritan work, however, has ever approached the popularity, the scope, or the depth of Baxter's classic treatise. This reprint of Baxter's work should be a welcome addition to every home library to anyone who wishes to give solid Biblical answers to man's questions.

"This remarkable account of world history has been suppressed by Liberal academics for 150 years. The reprinting and distribution of this series will be the frontal assault that could overturn the very foundation of secular humanism because it connects biblical and secular history in a way that proves the Bible's chronology is correct." — Dr. Gary North, Christian Historian / Economist
"Years ago I purchased this rare book from a widow in a small West Virginia town. Her late husband was a collector of old history books. Once I opened the book I couldn't put it down. Intricate maps of the ancient world unfolded before my eyes. Fascinating illustrations with the translation of ancient languages and charts with the ages of the Antediluvian Patriarchs were interspersed throughout the text. I've never seen Biblical and Secular history woven together in this way. I've always known that the Bible's history was true--but my faith in God's Word was strengthened like never before. We finally located the other three volumes and have brought them all back into print for future generations." — Ray Vallorani, Co-Founder of Tolle Lege Press (Publishers of the 1599 Geneva Bible)
Hardback with Leather Binding • 500 pages • Gold Foil Stamping • Gold-gilded pages • Includes Free Searchable CD-ROM!
When I got this book on a hot spring day, I was just amazed at the quality... I looked at the front cover, with its gilded title, then to the side binding, and to my surprise, there were several sections that were embossed with a floral design. the pages are gilded, but the gilding went all around the pages. Just comes to show the quality of Tolle Lege Press...
I turned to the first map of where the Garden of Eden once was, and all the lakes and the rivers that flowed into the Garden were all there. And the second map, depicting where the descendants of Noah went after the flood. In the first volume their are three fold out maps, it was just so charming. A delight to just look at on the bookshelf. This is an extremely special book. — John S. (Hillsborough, NC)

A Horror Story About a Horror Story
Once upon a dark and stormy year, tens of millions of women and girls, of all ages, all nations, all religions, fell under the spell of one 17-year-old boy…
who was not even human…
and was not even real.
This imaginary man-god from the underworld became the new standard by which millions of real husbands, boyfriends and suitors were weighed in the balance and found wanting. To millions of women, reality began to pale in comparison to his dark and fantastical world – the only world where they could be with Their Edward.
“i dont really understand why but it makes me so sad when i think of edward, almost like i know he will never exsits expect in fictionly stories. i wish i would already find him and be eternaly happy just holding his hand :/”
Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight may be fiction, but this story is real. Edward Cullen is no more than an idea, but ideas have consequences, and Edward-obsession is creeping into real history.
This week Twilight proved its mighty cultural force when the second film in the series, New Moon, broke all-time opening-day box office records, beating out Titanic and Dark Knight. Since the release of the first Twilight book in 2005, 85 million subsequent books in the series have been sold. Twilight’s cultural conquest is phenomenal. But how did this averagely-written, clichéd storyline capture so many hearts, minds and imaginations (not to mention over one billion dollars in book, DVD and ticket sales)?
“I am obsessed, it seems to have taken over my life, everytime I think about putting the books up for good and reading something new, I nearly have an anxiety attack!”
We have a few theories. Though Stephanie Meyer is not a brilliant author, she knows how to make an illicit romance with a vampire look like a clean, pro-abstinence story of unconditional love and good vs. evil (and convince even Christians.)
We believe her greatest genius, though, is her keen intuition into the sin nature and fleshly desires of women. Being, ourselves, young women in her target demographic, we know Twilight presents a very attractive alternate universe to tempt any girl’s flesh: a self-centered, autonomous life, a self-gratifying romance, and no real-world responsibilities or consequences. Best of all, the perfection of the hero has no human limitations. Move over, Mr. Darcy – with your every earthly quality, you’re still only human. Mr. Cullen is superhumanly handsome, brilliant, strong, rich, romantic, and most of all, superhumanly capable of unconditional love. He even has the “bad-boy” appeal of being a blood-lusting creature of the underworld, but with the impeccable Victorian manners and sensitive feminine feelings of the “good boy.” Half-demon, half-angel; there’s something for everyone in Edward Cullen.
Of course, intrinsic to Edward’s irresistible allure is the sheer, titillating “forbidden” factor. Twilight’s now-iconic cover art portrays the hands of a young girl holding an apple, an allusion to Eve’s contemplating the forbidden fruit – a metaphor for Bella’s temptation for an unthinkable relationship with a vampire. The message of the cover is perfectly apropos; the choice presented, however, is before more than just Bella, Twilight’s protagonist. Will we fall into our own love affair with Edward Cullen? Will we succumb to the charms of fantasy men in fantasy worlds?
“He grinned his crooked smile at me, stopping my breath and my heart. I couldn’t imagine how an angel could be any more glorious. There was nothing about him that could be improved upon.” (Bella Swan, Twilight, Chapter 12, p.241)
For this discussion, we would like to set aside the dark paranormal element of Twilight, though that is a concern on its own. We believe what ultimately draws women into this series and other romance novels in millions-strong droves is the same thing that lures men into an estimated $3-4 billion-a-year pornography industry.
Journalist Alisa Harris explains: “It’s called emotional porn. When men glut their physical lust with pictures of airbrushed girls pumped full of silicone, they become dissatisfied with real women’s bodies. When women plug their emotional caverns with chick flicks and chick lit, they become dissatisfied with the real men they know because they can’t measure up to the guys from The Notebook or Pride and Prejudice or Walk to Remember.” (Alisa Harris, “Beating Darcy Down”, Kritik Magazine)
Pornography is not simply about pictures. At its core, pornography starts with:
1. A desire to use people as self-gratification machines
2. A preference for man-made reality and man-made people over the real thing.
These hold as much temptation for women as for men, though romance novels often feed their fire better than pictures. (It has been found, however, that pictures of Robert Pattinson don’t put a damper on anything.)
R.J. Rushdoony asks, “Why should an unreal female be exciting, and a far better and real woman not be so? The key is the essence of imagination: the fantasy woman is totally the creation and creature of man, whereas the real woman is God’s creation and creature. It is essential to imagination to create a man-made world and a man-ordained decree of predestination. It is the essence of sin to demand such a world.”
Why should Edward, Mr. Darcy and other romantic heroes be more interesting than “far better and real” men? Because these men are the creations of women, tailor-made just the way we want them… rather than the way God made them.Read the rest here.

Starving artists? Not on Etsy. Etsy, the online crafts market, has hit the big time, with total sales of $133.1 million last month, according to our friends at Fast Company. (Those are merchant sales; Etsy, like eBay, makes money by taking a small percentage from each transaction.) How did the online auction company do it during a recession? "Etsy seems to have figured out that it only gets richer if the artists they highlight can actually earn a living." We picked founder Rob Kalin as one of the coolest entrepreneurs under 30 back in 2008. And earlier this year, we described how Etsy used its open API to entice a small army of developers to build apps for free.
Revolt Against Maturity R. J. Rushdoony
There are so many explanations of who man is, what motivates him, why he acts the way he does, with methods and testing for determining types of man in order to explain his psyche, his desires, his interests...in the end all this evolutionary and humanistic thinking has left us in reality thinking man is a puzzle. Unexplainable. R. J. Rushdoony takes us to the Word and gives a biblical picture of who God created. An excellent tool for building relationships.

The Serven Clan Follow the link for more photos :)
Erbers, Etc. Behinds the scenes
This CD is an excellent guide especially this time of year when others gather around our tables who don't usually.
The Family Table - Doug Phillips' concluding review:
The Church is in disrepair and the table is a manifestation.
Father's do not lead together anymore.
Communion table in the meeting of the church is in disrepair because people no longer understand the meaning of Christ giving us food being our provider and rejoicing around the table of God.
Children are in disrepair because they are not taught the manners which are necessary to conduct themselves as men and women of God.
Women are in disrepair because they do not have the opportunities, or are not availing themselves of it, to demonstrate some of the most important giftings and responsibilities of being keepers at home that the Word of God be not blasphemed and are thus in disrepair.
Our world is in disrepair and the way that we approach family life is a manifestation of that.
But this day we can change that.
We can change that by saying we will begin to have meaningful meals! We will look at the significance of the meals in the scripture. We will disciple our children at the table. We will truly give thanks to God and when we come to the table, we will act like people of thanks by the way we comport ourselves. We will be building our families with structures that give honor to god that will be reinforced as Jesus did it, as Abraham did it, as others did it.,and we will recognize that this has, and always will be as long as there is an earth, one of the most important aspects of family life and a critical element of any multi-generational vision. And some day, some day, those who know Christ, will be able to realize the ulitmate fullfillment of this little microscopic picture of joy, they will do so in eternity when the sit at the very table of God and they rule over the twelve tribes.
Hear the entirety of The Family Table and it's learn of it's critical significance for building the body of Christ and it's effectiveness for reformation by visiting Vision Forum.

A name to live is of little value if I be indeed dead in trespasses and sins. To have one foot on the land of truth, and another on the sea of falsehood, will involve a terrible fall and a total ruin. Christ will be all or nothing.
Matthew Henry on Trust
Concerning the disappointment and vexation those will certainly meet with who depend upon creatures for success and relief when they are in trouble (v. 5, 6): Cursed be the man that trusts in man. God pronounces him cursed for the affront he thereby puts upon him. Or, Cursed (that is, miserable) is the man that does so, for he leans upon a broken reed, which will not only fail him, but will run into his hand and pierce it. Observe, 1. The sin here condemned; it is trusting in man, putting that confidence in the wisdom and power, the kindness and faithfulness, of men, which should be placed in those attributes of God only, making our applications to men and raising our expectations from them as principal agents, whereas they are but instruments in the hand of Providence.
How to Think like a Christian - Doug Phillips
We’re afraid of the Word. Afraid of using it. Afraid of what it says.

I was wondering if you might know the answer to something I have been wondering about. A friend of mine recently referred to himself as a Visionary Christian. He seemed to be referring to a movement of some sorts. What is would your definition of a visionary Christian be? I ask you, because of some things I've read on your blog and facebook. I'm thinking you might have a better understanding of the concept.
Thanks in advance.
In short, it's not a movement. The definition is lengthy however. If you have ever heard anyone say, "I am not what I want to be, but I am thankful I am not what I was." that would be an example of a person that has vision in regards to their own life and sanctification.
Often a visionary is someone that can see something that is coming to fruition, and /or works to bring something to fruition, that others can't see, haven't the faith to see, or lack the experience to see. Hitler is an example. :) He had big plans for Germany didn't he. But for a Christian it is someone that has a vision for dominion for the glory of God and trusts the Word of God to help them accomplish it when it doesn't look like it should be possible. They understand that God will providentially aid them in the course of taking dominion.
Visionary people can have a big vision or a small vision or any size in between. Knowing the needs of the body of Christ the men in leadership may come together and start a movement if they sees an overarching lack of understanding or problem and that the sheep need to go in a certain direction. :) Or in single congregations perhaps. In 1 Cor. 11: 1-2 is an example of that. "I praise you brethren...for keeping the ordinances as were delivered." Followed by 1 Cor. 1:17 "But in this I praise you not...coming together with divisions among you..." He describes how they dishonor each other and the Lord's table and then paints of picture of how it ought to be, giving them direction and understanding.
Contrast Darwin's perspective of the Galapagos Islands with Doug Phillips' perspective of the Islands. Mr. Phillips is casting a 'right' vision for us and for generations that will come after. They will see a biblical perspective of God's creation and the error in the vision that Darwin cast so long ago of God's creation which has altered and affected so very much.
On a smaller scale, a mother of 5 children may see that predominantly her children all bicker and so initiates a course to remedy them of that sin. Or we can even have a vision for one person and so we cast hope and direction using the Word of God to inspire them to that end to which God would have them go. This requires that we have hope we can speak of and can give account of because we stand on the sure word of God.
Please start going through your bible and looking for things that speak of visionary perspectives. It is a study that is really important. Vision is one of the means the Lord uses by grace to move us to accomplish His ends. It can pull us out of a doctrinally heretical ditch. As Luther was the visionary that changed the course of events in his time. Or it can reform a family that was once scattered.
Hope that helps,

Make the Most of Your Advertising Dollars: Start-up Basics
These days, most U.S. markets are buyer's markets, meaning that consumers have great leverage to get a lot of value for their dollars.
Right now, this is especially true in the advertising world. Which is good news if you're just starting your company or revamping your existing marketing strategies.
Although surveys commonly report that a huge majority of consumers will buy eco-friendly products, most will not pay a lot more for them. For most consumers the environment is a secondary factor, and scolding doesn't sell at all...When eco-friendly products do cost a little more, communicating their added value becomes paramount. "The challenge facing green-product companies going mainstream is how to motivate consumers to shop value and not simply price. The key is to define and present both the product and green value in one marketing message," says David Mleczko
Get Past the 'Budget' Roadblock
During economic contractions your clients are going to become more resistant, more selective and more fearful about how they spend their money. Consumers will only spend their money when the perceived value of your product or service is greater than the value of their money.
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, [that] I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
H1N1 National Emergency: "Fire Drill"?
I have really been intrigued by the level of hype the H1N1 “Swine Flu” has caused. I don’t recall ever experiencing a national mobilization like we’ve seen with this outbreak. It’s all over the Press. It’s all over the Internet. The Federal government has spent $ billions buying all the vaccines they can. And the President recently declared a national emergency.
The only problem is, the pandemic has evidently forgotten to show up. More people have died of the regular flu than the swine flu, but we’ve rarely seen as much hype as we are experiencing today over the swine flu. Moreover, the swine flu is not a particularly strong flu. Many people I know who have already been through the swine flu could not tell much of a difference from a regular flu—although some say abdominal pain is more prevalent with the swine flu.
Morning & Evening Oct. 27, 2009 (Note: There are 2 scripture links which take you to the wrong destination.)
Treasure up these faithful sayings. Let them be the guides of our life, our comfort, and our instruction. The apostle of the Gentiles proved them to be faithful, they are faithful still, not one word shall fall to the ground; they are worthy of all acceptation, let us accept them now, and prove their faithfulness. Let these four faithful sayings be written on the four corners of My house.
...Like the villains in the movie, it can be easy for us to observe the harm that has often been caused by the indulgence of wrong emotions and thus jump to the conclusion that all emotions are wrong. Then we find ourselves walking the hallways at church or work with dour expressions on our faces. Perhaps we attempt to interact with people of the opposite gender by only speaking of deep, cerebral subjects or obscure theological disputes...The question is not: Will you exercise your emotions? The questions is: Will you exercise self-control with your emotions and emote as God has called you to emote?...
When Pharaoh had let the people go, God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near, lest they should repent when they was war and return to Egypt: But God led them about through the way of the wilderness of the Red Sea... Our very learned countryman Sir Walter Raleigh, represents the conduct of Moses in this march of the Israelites in some measure the effect of his own prudence and skill in the art of war; and he gives some reasons to show how Moses performed, in the several stations of this march, the part of a very able commander. I cannot pretend to judge of the reasons of war suggested by him; but I should imagine, that Sir Walter Raleigh's great military skill might lead him to draw an ingenious skill here for Moses, where we have no reason to think that Moses laid any scheme at all.
Not Much Has Changed in 400 Years?
Nearly four hundred years ago, a great pastor, Richard Baxter warned parents about the great danger of Christian children associating with friends who do not fear the living and the true God.

Disputation on the Power and Efficacy of Indulgences Commonly Known as The 95 Theses by Dr. Martin Luther
Out of love and concern for the truth, and with the object of eliciting it, the following heads will be the subject of a public discussion at Wittenberg under the presidency of the reverend father, Martin Luther, Augustinian, Master of Arts and Sacred Theology, and duly appointed Lecturer on these subjects in that place. He requests that whoever cannot be present personally to debate the matter orally will do so in absence in writing.
1. When our Lord and Master, Jesus Christ, said "Repent", He called for the entire life of believers to be one of repentance.
2. The word cannot be properly understood as referring to the sacrament of penance, i.e. confession and satisfaction, as administered by the clergy.
3. Yet its meaning is not restricted to repentance in one's heart; for such repentance is null unless it produces outward signs in various mortifications of the flesh.
4. As long as hatred of self abides (i.e. true inward repentance) the penalty of sin abides, viz., until we enter the kingdom of heaven.
5. The pope has neither the will nor the power to remit any penalties beyond those imposed either at his own discretion or by canon law.
6. The pope himself cannot remit guilt, but only declare and confirm that it has been remitted by God; or, at most, he can remit it in cases reserved to his discretion. Except for these cases, the guilt remains untouched.
7. God never remits guilt to anyone without, at the same time, making him humbly submissive to the priest, His representative.
8. The penitential canons apply only to men who are still alive, and, according to the canons themselves, none applies to the dead.
9. Accordingly, the Holy Spirit, acting in the person of the pope, manifests grace to us, by the fact that the papal regulations always cease to apply at death, or in any hard case.
10. It is a wrongful act, due to ignorance, when priests retain the canonical penalties on the dead in purgatory.

The name Rose Campbell was inspired by the heroine of one of Louisa May Alcott's fine books, Eight Cousins and Rose in Bloom. Who as an orphaned 13 year old girl, learns to stop pitying herself and start serving others, even in the smallest of ways, and in the most ignoble of places.
She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. Proverbs 31:20

When we look at the children of the homeschool movement, we see amazing amounts of talent, creativity, potential and the abundant blessings they have received. Just their ability to and the speed in which they learn sometimes floors us. Our experience was vastly different from this. We wasted years sitting in classrooms where we were trained to accept a life of mental, spiritual and physical captivity, to passively stay within the parameters of the slot we had been assigned in life and to allow an existence of perpetual boredom and ignorance in which it was understood that “good people” wait for an expert to tell them what to do. But God, in his mercy, redeemed us from this situation and it’s because of this that home education has become an important topic to our family. As our father has often said, the system in our nation, which includes the government schools, is designed for our failure. One doesn’t have to look far into the disaster that is our culture to see the truth of this. We are suffering the painful results of departing from God’s Word on education and discipleship. It is our strong belief that a sound, Biblical understanding of education, carried out, is one of the most important foundations of cultural reformation. As the Proverb says, “In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.”Prov. 14:26
Homeschool Dropouts is a message that will convict you, inspire you, and, by God’s grace, safeguard the investment and sacrifice of home education’s pioneering parents. This is a message that every Christian should watch, pause and consider.
