I just finished reading the Elise Dinsmore series. You’re probably thinking “Aren’t you a little old for that?” Maybe so, but since I never had the joy of reading it as a young girl, I decided to make up for it now. It was a very good series and I highly recommend it.
One of the things that struck me in the last few chapters was a discussion between two characters on how the atmosphere, more specifically the décor, of a home affects the children who grow up in it. (I won’t expound, lest I give the story away!) While I’ve pondered this before, it’s never been to the degree I do now. How does each and every item in a home affect the souls of those in it? Hmm…an interesting thought. It has inspired me to tackle with new enthusiasm the various hopechest projects that are always underway!
The Lord tells us in Philippians 4:8 to think on those things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, of virtue and praise. How much easier that would be if our homes reflected these things.
